Both personal growth and spiritual evolution share two goals: to REALIZE who we essentially are, and to MANIFEST that true selfhood in life. In this sense, true growth is more about becoming oneself than changing oneself.

Even so, becoming oneself requires spiritual work. We've got bad habits to break, false self-images to shake. We must work to CONTROL and RELEASE lower tendencies. And we must work to EMBRACE and MANIFEST our higher soul qualities, too.

The wonder of self-discovery is this: As we find ourselves, we find traits and values common to all God's children. As we become who WE are, we also become who OTHERS are! And in the ultimate realization of Self nature, we realize the Unity in which all of life finds its Being.

Surely, the path of self-discovery is the Mother of ALL adventures. We are confident that the section on Self will further your quest.

Our Divine family features

As children of God, we bear a family resemblance, not only to our Creator, but also to all fellow human beings. Divine characteristics are "hard wired" into our internal circuitry, and not subject to loss or change. These characteristics include higher knowingness, universal sensitivities, and spirit values. We may not be completely aware or fully expressive of these essential characteristics YET, but they're ours to have and use. And they provide the grounds for deep affinity and true understanding among all people everywhere.

Spiritual growth through self-culture

Serious spiritual seekers have always engaged in "self-culture," and always will. Time-honored methods of self-culture include consciousness-raising techniques such as study, introspection, prayer, meditation. Energy-elevating practices such as exercise and right diet contribute as well. And naturally, behavioral guidelines are often followed.

But ETHICS constitute the true bedrock of evolutionary progress. Since spiritual highs are easily undermined by ethical shortcomings, for lasting gains, we need high ethics -- truly good intentions. To uplevel our ethics is to improve our lives totally. Ethical advancement comes through embracing practical responsibilities, supporting worthy causes, doing self-transcending service. And of course, the practice of universal love is the most important spiritual discipline of all.
