Jesus and Mary Magdelene: by David Truman
I am extremely glad to be able to call Jesus and Mary Magdalene personal friends. And therefore, I can tell you, from experience of them, and from what they've told me about their lives, some things that will bring joy to your heart. I want first to tell you of Jesus coming to earth, his "mission." His story is very different, in some ways, than the standard avatar/savior story. He does not fit the usual concept of a heaven-born being who comes here, lives here as a rolling stone, gathers no moss, does his little stint, and then leaves, untouched. There is a Sanskrit word to describe such ones -- Paramahansa: SWAN WHO FLEW OVER (AND DIDN'T GET HIS WINGS DIRTY). Jesus took a unique course: first, he assumed a human identity -- he IS human. Still. Even now, he is human-Divine. He not only came here on a mission to save humanity; he actually bonded -- he made a full human experience of it. As both a man and as God (through the perfect blending of his consciousness with the Father), he fell in love with the humanity -- and not just generally, but specifically; individually. He loved his biological family. He loved every person he saw. And, he loved Mary Magdalene. In his way -- not legally, or literally, but emotionally -- he took a human bride, Mary Magdalene. Jesus found, in her, the epitome of the human type, the heart and soul of humanity. She's VERY strong on humanity, feeling, emotion, and love. And he fell in love with her. She was what he became -- a human being. She is the best of the race, the most typical, or the most essential, of the race. In her, he married into the race. He really married the race as a whole. He married HUMANITY in the form of Mary Magdalene. So Jesus not only loved humans, and served humans, but he fell in love with a human, and married a human. He not only became a human being, a person in that sense, but he MARRIED into the human family, and became a family member. He committed to all of us, both directly, as himself, and through Mary. It's beautiful. And then they accepted all of us -- all human beings -- as their children. Yes -- the two of them have adopted the whole human family, all the children in the family of God, AS their own. That's you and me and everybody else. They've really MADE a commitment! They are dedicated. They're tied to the humanity by their hearts. Now THAT is a big story. Remarkable. Amazing. You see, it's one thing to come here, not get involved, and leave. It's quite another thing to get so involved that you get married, that you have kids -- billions of 'em! That's an extremely different path to walk. Jesus and Mary have MORE than compassion. To me, compassion is a weak word. It means sympathy, and tolerance, if not pity. It is discriminating, careful, and excellent. Love is a stronger word. Love is passionate, committed, involved. That, to me, is a much more precious gift. That's why everybody wants love more than compassion, from others. Instead of taking the path of compassion, they took the path of love -- to actually love what they see, rather than just be compassionate towards it. Tell your friends I said these things. It would be most heartening to the human family to know the truth about the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. It would be heartening for them to understand the symbolic and REAL importance of the fact that Christ was born as a human and MARRIED A HUMAN. It is my hope that THAT stroke -- in which God actually married the humanity in a most real sense -- will someday be understood for what it is. I can say, now, with understanding, that this is tremendously meaningful. Christ said, "Know the Truth, and the truth will set you free." The truth about Mary and Jesus will, I believe, set the humanity free of the chains of their misapprehension. It's sad to have so thoroughly misunderstood the humanity of Jesus. It limits our ability to bond fully, properly, with him. And thus it limits his ability to help us, which he still very passionately wants to do. by David Truman Please feel free to share copies of this article. |
